Route 114 was a main north-south artery in Rhode Island until the Interstate system. It still serves as a main route south of East Providence and in Cumberland. Route 114 runs 45.6 miles in Rhode Island.
A word of note: Route 114 Northbound was re-aligned in Pawtucket sometime in late 2000. The alignment used to only go up Prospect Street to Pond Street, then went down Pond Street to Summit Street, and re-joined with Route 114 Southbound at the corner of Summit Street & Division Street. The newer alignment is shown in the Pawtucket section of this page. Also worth noting about Route 114 in Pawtucket is the short northbound/southbound multiplex on the one-way portion of Broadway between Exchange Street and Cottage Street that resulted from RIDOT's complete jackass alignment of Route 114 Northbound. If you color in Route 114 Northbound's alignment on a map, you'll get the full effect of why it's so stupid.
In Cumberland, Route 114 was recently re-aligned in both directions. Route 114 used to get between Broad Avenue and High Street on Dexter Street (
Route 123). Signage both directions on Dexter Street at High Street re-affirms this. The newer alignment is shown in the Cumberland section of this page.
