Route 4 is an Interstate-standard freeway for most of its length. In Rhode Island, it is commonly referred to as "the road to the beach"! Route 4 runs 9.9 miles in Rhode Island.

North Kingstown - 5.0 miles: US 1 to East Greenwich Line
Colonel Rodman Highway

East Greenwich - 4.7 miles: North Kingstown Line to Warwick Line
Colonel Rodman Highway

Warwick - 0.2 miles: East Greenwich Line to I-95
Colonel Rodman Highway
